Newton Preschool

 

Welcome to Newton Community Preschool. Newton Preschool offers a program for 3, 4 and 5-year-old children with an emphasis on learning through play and kindergarten readiness. The Newton community league runs a preschool that is operated out of the Newton community hall. A parent executive is elected annually and works with the teacher Laura Sawyer, under an Alberta Social Services License.

Hello,
I would like to introduce myself as the Newton Preschool teacher. I am an experienced and enthusiastic teacher with a Bed and Early Childhood.
There will be lots of learning and fun at preschool!

Newton Preschool runs only one class but another class may be added depending on enrolment.
 
AM Class
The class is held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for children who are three or four and completely independent using the washroom. This class starts at 8:50 am and ends at 11:20am
 
Snack time
You will need to send a snack with your child each class. The snack must include only healthy foods. Please avoid sending peanut products to school.
 
Daily Schedule AM Class
8:50am to 10:00 am Learning through Free Play / Theme Activities / Learning Activities / Art
10:00am to 10:15 am Circle Time
10:15am to 10:30 am Music and Movement
10:30am to 10:50 am Bathroom Break / Snack
10:50am to 11:05 am Learning through Free Play / Kindergarten Readiness
11:05 am to 11:20 am Circle / Story
 
Twice a month, our class has a Gym visit in nearby Newton School, kids have fun with Bouncer and other toys.
 
Meetings
There are three general meetings each year in September, January and April. It is important that you attend these meetings because this is when decisions are made that will affect the program.
 
Helping In Class
There is a classroom that helper each day, which means there are no required duty days. You are invited to attend with your child from time to time to participate in their class. We will require a ghost parent to be available on short notice in case the classroom helper is unable to come to class.
 
Fee Schedule
There is a non-refundable $30.00 registration fee due with registration $25 of this fee is for a Newton Community Membership
 
The fee is $100.00 per month.
 
Parents responsible for cleaning the walks on snow days, fundrasing for field trip and possible 3 hours volunteering work for community league.
 
There is a government subsidy for stay-at-home parents. Parents who work part time may also eligible. High-Income families are not eligible. Please inquire if you would like more information.
 
Post Dated cheques for the year are required.
There are due the first class. September and June are half months so fees paid in September cover the fees for June
